Activate Type Aheads on a User by User Basis

This feature can be activated on a user by user basis, because we understand that some are happy to take advantage of these words and phrases, while others do not like it.

Example: Use Type Aheads to Eliminate Re-typing of Common Exam Histories

In the example below, we have created a Type Ahead for main history text. It’s called ‘History-Reason for Visit Information: Oral’, and has a lookup code ‘=pcdigestive’. Think of it as a template to use for a common initial history assessment veterinarians and nurses may perform. It includes all the common questions to automatically fill out when using the lookup code in a patients’ history.

RxWorks User ‘X’ has Type Ahead activated for their user profile. When filling out a patient’s history, they can then use the lookup code ‘=pcdigestive’ to automatically fill out the details for the initial oral history assessment.

Using the Lookup Code

The lookup code can be used for typing abbreviations for your Type Ahead text.
For example, if a user profile is set up to use Type Ahead Lookup by code, and there is a Type Ahead configured with a Lookup Code as ‘NAD’, and the Type Ahead text ‘No Abnormalities Detected’, typing NAD into a consultation will result in the text ‘No Abnormalities Detected’ being shown.

You can edit a word or phrase to link with the invoice instructions.

By typing NAD (No Abnormalities Detected) the phrase can be linked to invoice instructions that state: “Congratulations, it’s great to see you taking such good care of your pet! We look forward to seeing you again for your next preventative health exam.”
It can be helpful if every word is deleted from the type ahead dictionary and simply replaced with about 10 meaningful statements or expressions the practice feels they are sick of typing.

Disclaimer for Printed Estimates

Use this field to provide a Printed Estimates Disclaimer. Such a disclaimer might read as:

  • “This is an estimate of costs for this case. Unforseen circumstances may cause price variation. Estimates are valid for 1 month from the date shown on the Estimate.”
  • or as shown below.
  • Chart Templates

Allows new image charts to be added and configured for recording examinations and procedures. RxWorks is supplied with dental, eye, body charts for small animal and equine use.

    Exam Fields

Edit the Exam fields shown in a Visit page for each species type.

Up to 12 Exam fields can be defined for each species. These facilitate the formal process of a physical examination. Previously used routinely by a minority of practices.

The Fields entered here will then be reflected under the EXAM tab of a visit for a patient of that species.

  • By using the assigned shortcut keys and the Ctrl + Shift keys. (Ctrl + Shift + [assigned key]).
  • By Right-clicking in the HISTORY text area of a visit page, and selecting LINE TYPES > [desired line type]. This option will also show the shortcut keys for each line type.
  • Default Litter Certificate

The default litter certificate is usually set to “Certificate – Vaccination Litter.doc”

This option will define what document (when selected to print) prompts the ‘Litter Certificate’ window to open.

The ‘Litter Certificate’ window allows a batch of certificates to be printed with colour and sex variations.

    History Append Modifications

If this option is selected, it will force any modifications to a clinical history to be appended to the record.

Please see our online manual article for the "Visit Screen and History Text" for further information.

    Consult Modify Security Mode

These are security settings for changing an existing clinical history.

  • SUP Only – only the SUP user is able to modify the clinical history.
