Practice Information Management System
Practice Information Management System (PIMS)
PIMS is our base software package. It provides all the major functions needed to manage
a modern practice.
Benefit from accurate medical records
PIMS uses a patients’ medical record as the “driver” for work in the practice. This holds a unique advantage over other practice management software, and focuses the program on the core task of recording treatments and services for patients.
In RxWorks, a patients’ medical record identifies:
- All charges to that record.
- Any inventory used for the patient.
- Any client education materials that are needed for the patient.
- Staff follow-up or reminders that are required.
The benefit of accurate patient records is in reduced risks. Let’s use the risk of missed charges as an example of this. Good record keeping also gives you a valuable resource for reviewing patient treatment and reporting.
Other software centered on creating invoices will not provide you with this capability.
A sophisticated approach to practice management
For over 20 years RxWorks has been building globally leading software. We also develop methods to support practice management.
We have looked beyond financial dealings and into the management of a task.
An example of this approach is how the program manages reminders. Most software will create a reminder based on the anniversary of a treatment. If the client does not respond, it is a lost opportunity for treating the patient – for up to a year.
PIMS manages reminders by:
- Automatically following up with clients who do not respond.
- Measuring the response rates of the ways you sent the reminder. These could be postcard, email, SMS message, etc. You can then adjust the way you send out reminders to get the best response.
This capability is unique to RxWorks. If your process needs to be manually connected, it will not be consistent and reliable. Patient reminders generate a substantial part of your revenue. They are also a key factor in maintaining your standards of care and cannot be left to chance. Don’t risk your practice information contribute to the “Information Black Hole”.
Custom templates for patient treatment and communication
Build custom templates for treatment notes, client communications and fee charges.
You can build templates for sets of fees related to medical treatments. These are called ‘Procedures’ in RxWorks. This ability provides you with a foundation for efficient record keeping and assists in developing your standards of care.
Easy management of stock inventory
Inventory control is strength of PIMS. This is because
- It provides the tools to manage items based on their usage and costs.
- Fees can be automatically calculated as costs change.
- The details required to order an item from a distributor are maintained. This includes vendor codes, barcodes and up to date costs.
- The program reduces the “on-hand” level of a stock item when it is charged to a patient visit.
- Late recording of receipts is one of the main reasons for poor inventory control. RxWorks provides several ways of making it easier, including barcodes and purchase orders.
- The program allows you to manage multiple item locations. Items can be stored in locations such as the pharmacy, surgery and treatment areas.
- Flexible and powerful inventory reporting.
Highly adaptable clipboards
“Electronic whiteboards” called Clipboards can be used to build appointment schedules and other program features to manage resources.
Electronic workflow is a powerful feature of Clipboards. Keep a track of where clients and patients are in your practice, how long they have been waiting and who they are waiting for.
The way you use Clipboards in RxWorks is only limited by your imagination. PIMS includes clipboard examples for different practice types, to help get you started.
Reporting at Your Fingertips
PIMS includes a large menu of pre-defined reports. They include:
- Financial transaction controls.
- Over 2,000 production reports.
- Client accounting information.
- Referral reporting.
- Client and patient statistics.
- Data mining tools.
