A small animal practice can be made up of one or all of the following business area.

  • A sick/trauma clinic.

  • A retailer of pet food and supplies as well as services such as boarding and grooming.

Each business area has its own management needs.  With its modular structure, RxWorks is perfectly suited to support your practice, regardless of the business types you use.

The Business segments for Small Animal Clinics integrate closely with our Strategic Overview.

Features for your Sick/Trauma Business Areas

To give your staff the time to care for patients, you need a pre-defined set of treatments that are clear and easily understood.  Performance Pack was developed to address that need.  It includes thousands of Procedures that are already built.  It also includes a powerful profit-based fee management tool that makes sure fees are fair to your client as well as meet your profit goals.

Good patient care and a good practice reputation depend on quality communication with the client.  Some recalls, reminders and documents are based on medications and other products. It is essential that they are setup accurately.  Unfortunately, it’s a task with a low priority for staff and does not get done.  We have built and maintain a Veterinary Supply Database (VSD) to remove the risk.

The Recall Manager module takes the risk out of missing important client follow up calls.  RxWorks provides a list of calls to be made for the day for each of the staff.  It also provides management with the tools to ensure that none are missed.

Features for your Wellness Management Business Areas

The HealthCare Module (HCM) is used for this business area along with the modules for Sick/Trauma.

Studies of client preferences show that they are committed to sustaining the health of their pets.  Proactive wellness plans are high on their wish list.

Discussing the value of a wellness plan is vital to better patient care.  It has also been shown that when you include all of your support staff in the process, you improve the chance of getting a client to agree with your plan.

Managing these tasks is the goal of HealthCare Manager.  It measures how successful you are in getting acceptance and even more important, why you are not.

Features for your Chronic Care Business Area

As pets get older or have a chronic disease, they need individual attention to their problems.

The treatment plans are used to set up HealthCare Manager (HCM) for the condition.  The patients with the condition are then monitored by HCM.

Features for your Ancillary Services Business Area

This business types cover most activity in the practice that is not medical. The type will vary from practice to practice but can include:

    • Being a retail store for pet food and other nutritional products.
    • Selling of collars, leads, toys, etc.
    • Non-veterinarian staff providing services like grooming and boarding.

For the retail side of things, areas to consider are stock control, pricing and billing. Features to work with these areas are provided by our Practice Information Management System (PIMS).
Boarding and grooming work similar to regular medical activities.

Automated Message Manager (AMM) is also a very effective tool. Use it to remind clients to come in for pet food and grooming appointments.  Reminders will set a practice apart from its non-medical competition and help to reduce the effect of price differences.
