Are You Using Your Software to its Full Potential?
Regardless
of the software you are currently using, to be effective the tools have
to be used. Do you feel that you are using your software to its full
potential? The majority of practices do not!.
Our
mission over the past few years has been to identify the reasons for
clients not using RxWorks to its full potential - and then provide a
solution.
Obvious reasons are ineffective training and incomplete setup of the system. But, we found that the main problem standing in the way of fully using the power of RxWorks is the amount of information needed to make it useful. Also, most of the functions in RxWorks are inter-connected. It is critical that the links between them are complete and accurate. All of this information and the linkages are called Content.
What Our Content Includes
Content is an essential part of any veterinary software program system and ours includes:
- Pre-defined treatments based on the practice’s standards of care. These include all tasks and fees as well as typical exam and medical history notes
- Professional invoice formats that include automatic insertion of client education text as well as explanations of the value of services
- Fees based on the practice’s costs and profit goals
- Forms and certificates needed for a treatment, as well as client and patient letters
- Client education materials, as well as SMS (text) and email messages. These are all selected by the patient’s species, breed, age, etc. as well as any diagnoses and treatments
- Rules and formats for reminders and recalls generated by treatments codes, barcodes, descriptions and analysis headings for all medications and consumables supplied by distributors
- “Typeahead” shortcuts to facilitate electronic medical record creation.
Years Invested in Developing
Most practices are too busy or cannot justify the expense of the resources needed to develop the Content. It’s also a drain on resources to make sure the Content keeps up with any changes in the practice.
RxWorks answer is to remove that burden and expense from our clients. We have developed pre-defined templates in all of the areas discussed above. So far, we have spent over 10 man years in building content – an investment beyond the capabilities of any practice. We continue to invest in the content to make sure that we maintain the highest utilization of our software tools.
It’s equally important to make sure that the links between the RxWorks’ functions are already setup. We have built the links and tested that they are accurate and complete. This reduces the risk of missing important reminders, recalls, communications, etc. because of incorrect setup. It also dramatically reduces the effort and time needed to start receiving return on the investment in RxWorks.
Missed Revenue in Reminders
To estimate one of the effects of inadequate content and setup in your practice, download and use our 'Reminder Missed Revenue' spreadsheet.

What is the Advantage of a Content Based System?
An example of the advantage of a content-based system is when you record the neuter of a patient.
To enter all of the charges, setup a recall, print the invoice with
take-home instructions, schedule suture removal and build approximately
90% of the medical history - all you need is “one mouse click”. Everything is 100% accurate and conforms to the practice’s standards.
The result is
- A consistent and complete medical history
- A professional and informative invoice
- Comprehensive client education materials
- Reliable follow up
- and no “missed” charges.
All of these lead to better patient care and increased client loyalty. And a “minor” side benefit – more profit!
